Skinfood Black Sugar Mask Wash Off Review

Hi, belles!

What’s the point of owning expensive makeup products when your skin cannot “accept” all those expensive things? Dead skin cells prevent makeup to stick well to your skin. So, this time, I’m going to talk about a skincare product which people usually use to remove dead skin cells. Well, it’s an exfoliating scrub! And the one that I’m going to review is Skinfood Black Sugar Mask. I bought this because I started to realize that it was important to remove those dead skin cells away from my skin, and after going through a lot of reviews, I finally made a choice.

If you had dry or sensitive skin, I would not recommend you to use any exfoliating scrub since it can somehow harm your skin. It’d better if you use peeling gel instead. Well, I actually want to purchase a gel one, but I’m still deciding which one to buy since there are a lot of products released by all those brands, or probably do you guys have any recommendation?

Okay, back to the mask.

The texture is grainy and rough. It is made of fine grained sugar though. Just make sure you massage your skin gently and don’t press too hard as it can harm your skin.

The scent is just like sugar! (LOL does this describe) It is sweet and pretty strong for those with sensitive nose. It disturbed me at first, but I’m fine with it now.

One thing that I really love is that this mask will leave your skin really smooth and soft. I use this once or twice a week in my weekly routine and I think it does a really good job in removing dead skin cells. Back then, the area around my nostrils was really dry and there were rough patches which then result in skin flaking. It seriously hurt. But then I found a way to cure it. I damp the area with water, and then I use this scrub to exfoliate. Well, it didn’t hurt because I made sure my skin – especially that particular area – was wet (and because my skin is originally not dry or sensitive). The result is pretty impressive. I don’t have that dry and flaky skin around my nostrils anymore yeay!

The ingredients

And one thing that disturbs me is that it’s still using butylparaben as one of its preservatives. There are a lot of debates going on about paraben and I’m sure you guys have read some of those. Personally, I’d like to keep myself away from using products with paraben (well it’s quite contradictory as I myself still own many products with paraben). But this product is forgiven since it’s working good on my skin.
(And one more thing, I really hope that skinfood would change their fonts though. I mean WHY using Comic Sans?)

Size        : 100g
Price      : I bought this for Rp 90000 (around 9 USD; original price 7700 KRW)
I’d give this 4.8 out of 5.

  1. I love this mask! This is like my favourite product from Skinfood right now, plus the Perfect First Serum from the same Black Sugar line. This just helps me in removing my dead skin cells! True! I hate the fact that this contains butylparaben. sigh
Anyway, nice review! Do drop by my blog and say hi, okay! :D
